Solo Tourism – Empty London

You might think that this eerie representation of London’s riverside landmarks shows the capital the day after we were all wiped out by some beansprout-based e-coli disease.

Fret not dear friends, it’s nothing more than a software heavy time-lapse edit by budding filmmaker Jon Fee for his end of year video.

Still, imagine how lovely commuting would be in Jon’s London…

The Royal Wedding (1923)

What with all the brouhaha about William and Kate’s nuptials on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey, it’s worth casting a gaze back to when these affairs were carried out in true style.

Thanks to wonderful BFI archive here’s the ‘wedding of King George VI and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, Queen Elizabeth II’s future parents, as incarnated by Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter in The King’s Speech’, multi-winner at this year’s Oscars.

Probably the best cinema experience in the world

We say:
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Clapham Picture House. After watching this viral ad for Carlberg/Sky, I think it might be time for a return visit. Any chance of Nastasia Kinski serving up my brew?

They say:
Carlsberg and Sky 3D treated a London cinema audience to the most incredible experience last week when Kelly Brook made a surprise live appearance.

Cinema-goers at the Clapham Picture House were left stunned when the actress and model appeared through a side-door half-way through an advert to promoting the partnership between Carlsberg and Sky 3D, in which she was featured. The astonished audience applauded in delight as they were served Carlsberg by Kelly, who was wearing a classic 1950’s usherette style red satin outfit.

Time Travelling Charlie Chaplin Extra

There’s a lot of buzz in videoland about this particular YouTube post supposedly showing an extra in the Charlie Chaplin film The Circus brandishing a mobile cell phone.

We suspect this will be the first of many similar ‘spots’ over the coming months as ‘time-traveller-extra’ becomes a new internet meme.

Gun Size Matters for Girls

Wonderful ‘amateur’ shoot-em-up from video game afficienado freddiew featuring the gorgeous leather-clad Shenae Grimes.

It should be wrong to think a hot, gun toting girl is sexy. But we’re all human aren’t we?

Iceberg Sinks Film

This has to have been one of the most ridiculous movie pitches ever.

Who on Earth would spend hundreds of millions on a luxury liner and go and call it Titanic II? And on who on Earth would be stupid enough to spend millions on a movie about an impossibly named ship?

Still, here’s the trailer in HD, of what we can only pray is a (albeit highly tasteless) mockbuster tribute (straight to DVD, naturally) to James Cameron’s 1997 film.
