Victor The Voter
Viral Campaign by The Electoral Commission
We Say:
Talking about Daleks (see earlier post), this AV thing reminds me of my time at University, many, many moons ago.
Like most Student Unions, we used to elect our ‘President’ and National Union of Student reps via the Alternative Vote method. If you voted for a mainstream candidate, say Labour or Tory, you’d place them in first place and, more often than not, a joke candidate second.
In our University that would mean the wonderfully attired Dalek candidate won every time. All well and good, a salutory lesson in politics and no loss to anyone really.
Problem is, what happens when you roll out this loser-comes-first system nationwide?
Yes, you guessed it, the joke candidate gets elected.
Step forward Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

Celebrities Get Lippy
Viral Ad for Action Aid
We Say:
A change from the usual pile-em-high technique of the increasingly salesy viral ad format, here a group of prominent female celebs give up some time to promote the thoroughly worthy ‘International Womens’ Day’.
Get Lippy Girls!*
* Is this an inappropriate forum to mention that we go slightly wobbly at the knees at the thought of the rather scrumptious Sophie Ellis-Bextor and enticingly mischievous Miranda Richardson in high gloss pout-mode? Thought so…
They Say:
Joanna Lumley, Kathy Burke, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Beverley Knight, Annie Mac and Miranda Richardson mark the 100th anniversary of INTERNATIONAL WOMENS’ DAY on March 8th 2011 by letting rip on women’s rights for ActionAid’s GET LIPPY campaign.

Student Protests in the 1960s/70s
Posted by Peter in Law & Order, Politics, Student, Virals on December 9th, 2010
Today hundreds of thousands of British students will be taking to the streets in London and beyond, occupying college buildings and dodging police kettles.
Their common cause? Fury at today’s House of Commons vote which is set to see dozens of Liberal Democrat MPs openly betray their election pledge on student fees.
Student revolt is nothing new of course. This video documents campaigning Californian students in the 60s and 70s. You get a nice rock/hippy soundtrack to boot.

Cat v Aligator
It seems stand-offs are all the rage at the moment. Be it North Korea v South Korea or ‘Kettled’ Students v Police.
But here’s the one that grabbed our eye, plucky cat v nasty aligator and his scaly mates.

Adam Boulton Explodes – Again!
Following on from his outburst at Labour’s Alistair Campbell, here’s Adam Boulton at it again, this time his target is Ben Bradshaw.
Adam Boulton Explodes
Move over Nick Clegg and David Cameron, the real bruiser in this election campaign has been Sky News’s political frontman Adam Boulton, here exploding at Labour’s Alistair Campbell.
He appears to have thrown all impartiality out of the window in advance of Sky’s rumoured intention to follow it’s sister broadcaster Fox News to be a self-avowed right wing TV station.
