All Aboard The Zandvoort Express
Sponsored Post: All Aboard The Zandvoort Express
For a few years when we were kids we lived in Holland. I was only young but the experience of living abroad means you remember more of that period than many others in your childhood.
Having arrived from the Britain of the Three Day Week, Holland seemed very affluent and the living was good. One of our favourite experiences was to go with our class to a kid sized townscape where we got to drive in miniature cars, (electric) motor bikes and this being Holland, pedal some cycles too. There were traffic lights, one way roads, roundabouts, level crossings, cycle lanes – the works. The teachers had to drag us away at the end of our play session. Except of course it wasn’t play at all, it was a cunning plan by the big people to get us to learn the rules of the road.
So this video for AXA Car Insurance’s I Respect The Road campaign quickly brought this Dutch memory to mind. If you’d dressed the kids in this video in flares, tank-tops and clogs (okay, kidding there – how about Adidas three-stripes?) you would have the perfect recreation of our 70s townscape.
And guess what? Rather than heed the hippy-haired Road Safety chap’s assuredly excellent safety advice, we hared around the ring-roads, pavements and cycle lanes like this was the racetrack at Zandvoort, then home to the Dutch F1 Grand Prix. Just like these kids in fact. Flares or no flares, some things never change.
Shaven Ladies
Viral Ad for Wilkinson Sword
We Say:
Here’s another tongue in cheek viral video ad for lady shavers, replete with a fully loaded sack of double entendres and saucy puns.
They Say:
Ladies – meet Nancy and Meg, the stars of the newest video from Wilkinson Sword as they fly into the Neighbourhood airport and remind us of what is needed to get a fab landing strip ahead of all our summer holidays
Now the weather is hotting up and you have already started ‘tidying up your downstairs’, Wilkinson Sword brings you the second episode of their kooky Neighbourhood TV series, ‘The Landing Strip’. Share in Meg and Nancy’s rather amusing adventure as they attempt to land a small pink plane onto the neighbourhood’s landing strip in some pretty hairy weather conditions.”

Little everyday acts of kindness
We Say:
Video viral from ING Direct who have teamed up with with the Kindness Offensive to celebrate everyday acts of kindness.
They say:
Normally, little everyday acts of kindness pass with no fanfare. We don’t believe that’s right, so that’s why in August we surprised unsuspecting members of the public who showed a little kindness to strangers.
Actors posed as members of public in need of a little help, to see how many people would be kind enough to help. Each person who did was given a huge, over the top kindness ‘celebration’ and a bottle of champagne to take home. For a few days, those little acts of kindness got the recognition they deserve.
Chocolate is Dead. Long Live Chocolate.
We Say:
There’s no hidden branding/trick marketing here as in so many video viral ads. This is an advert for KitKat. We like that clarity. It makes a refreshing change.
Of course it’s tongue in cheek, but what’s special with this one is that you’re catching a glimpse of real workers at a real chocolate factory.
They Say:
People pay their last respects to KIT KAT® Chunky Peanut Butter as the last bar comes off the production line.
Catch a laptop with your bum

This promotion by MSI for its X-Slim laptop is either a well conceived viral or exploitation-via-youtube?
You decide.
